Volunteer with The Friends of Cotgrave Country Park

The Friends of Cotgrave Country Park (FoCCP) is a community volunteer group that supports Nottingham County Council (NCC) in the management of the Park.  We usually meet every 6 weeks at 7pm on Tuesdays in the Cotgrave Futures Building.  All are welcome to join us.

Volunteer Task Days

Volunteers meet regularly to lend a hand with maintenance and conservation work in the park, under the guidance of NCC staff.

They meet in the Car Park at Hollygate Lane at 10am on pre-arranged task days, stay for as long as you want or until around 3pm.

No experience required. NCC staff provide equipment, training & refreshments.

So what is task day? Mainly park maintenance, consisting of pruning, clearing pathways, litter picking and basic jobs under supervision, ie putting in seats, gates, fences etc. A volunteer works when they can there are no set hours. They do what they can, what they can manage etc. They don't do anything they don't want to. The word 'Volunteer'means exactly that. The days are sociable with likeminded people and are a form of fitness and wellbeing. Come along, give it a go you have nothing to lose.

Volunteer Wardens

So what is a volunteer warden?

People in this role are park users who have an interest in all things to do with the park. They are there to enhance the visitor experience by giving a presence in the park. The listen to park users and report back on any issues. They look out for things in the park that are of interest and look for ideas to hopefully put in place to make the park a place for enjoyment. There are no hard and fast hours just a willingness to try and do a minimum of two hours attendance per week, there are no timetables they just arrive and go when they want. An identifiable tabbard will be provided. We are proud of how tidy the park is and this is down to volunteers and wardens who sometimes do a litter pick when on duty. Again like task day volunteers you are out doors working in an environment that gives fitness and wellbeing.
